Inital Assessment & Treatment- Acupuncture and T.C.M Services
** FIRST-TIME PATIENTS**
Registered acupuncturists offer a variety of treatments rooted in the philosophy and practice of traditional Chinese medicine. These therapies can be used together or individually depending on the needs and preferences of the patient. Acupuncture & T.C.M services are often covered by private health insurance and are H.S.T. exempt
Services:
Acupuncture
Acupuncture uses thin, sterilized and disposable needles inserted into specific body points for therapeutic effects. Matthew integrates both traditional and modern acupuncture techniques, such as trigger, electro and motor point therapy. When the acupuncture needles are tapped into the skin, there may not be any sensation, or patients may feel a dull or slight tingle. Most clients find acupuncture treatments to be relaxing and meditative experiences. Acupuncture may be combined with tuina, cupping or Qigong if indicated.
Tuina Manual Therapy
Tuina is a style of manual therapy that uses massage, acupressure, rhythmic movements, joint mobilization, and assisted stretches without needles.
Qigong
Qigong involves mindful movement, coordinated breathing, self-massage and gentle muscle engagement to improve mobility, strength and body awareness. These exercises can be practiced between treatments for better self-management
Cupping
Cupping involves applying glass or silicone cups to the skin to create suction. Like massage cupping moves blood and metabolic waste from tissue and enhances the immune system
