Acupuncture is part of a holistic system of health care that originated in China several thousand years ago. Your first visit involves getting a detailed picture of your health. This is gathered by using methods unique to T.C.M. practice and philosophy. Manual therapy (tuina and acupressure), cupping, therapeutic movement, and mindfulness practices (Qigong) may be incorporated into each treatment. Acupuncture is frequently covered by health care benefits, and H.S.T. is exempt.


Manual Therapy- Tuina + Shiatsu

Tuina is a style of manual therapy used in traditional Chinese medicine. Tuina includes massage, acupressure, passive stretching, structural alignment, and joint mobilization. Manual therapy is applied to myofascial pathways, acupuncture channels, and points, with the goal of restoring healthy function and reducing pain. Tuina is not covered by extended health care.

Matthew Sedo is a Registered Acupuncturist with an interest in musculoskeletal and stress-related disorders. He approaches treatment through a Traditional Chinese Medicine framework, informed by a contemporary understanding of neuroanatomy and the science of pain. He holds diplomas in acupuncture and shiatsu therapy from the Shiatsu School of Canada and is a member of the College of Traditional Chinese Medical Practitioners Association of Ontario. Matt has been practicing in Toronto since 2001 and is also an instructor and clinical supervisor at Eight Branches Academy of Healing Arts.
